Situated on the prominent corner of Newlands Road and Upper Grove Avenue, this property commands a high-profile position in the well-established ‘hen and chicken’ neighbourhood of Claremont.

Anchored by a majestic oak tree on the corner, four bespoke two storey residential units occupy the site.
Private, secure access to the precinct is taken from Upper Grove Avenue into a common, secure driveway.

Each unique unit comprises a direct-access double garage, open plan living, dining and kitchen space, guest wc on ground level which opens to a private garden space with swimming pool. At first floor level there are 3 en-suite bedrooms and a PJ lounge or study.

In developing the architectural language of the estate, inspiration was drawn from the surrounding neighbourhood. With a mix of classic Georgian and contemporary design, the architects decided to reflect these 2 references in a contemporary classic style. Window proportions were preserved, shutters retained and a clean white expression of the dominant portion of each building is evident. The addition of natural timber accents offset the more classical details and the combination suggests a harmonious relationship both to the built surrounds and the natural green leafy environment. The overall result is that of an appropriately modest, contemporary insertion into the existing fabric of a mature, well maintained and popular suburb of Cape Town.

The contemporary architectural design reflects clean lines creating a minimalist approach for easy-living. Elements such as timber and aluminium are incorporated to provide a modern versatile aesthetic. The balance between wood and concrete creates a serene warm atmosphere boasting elegance and sophistication.

Maximizing natural light was a priority when designing each of these North facing homes. Large windows and glass doors allow both morning and afternoon light to flow freely into each home.
